Marpole Ladies' Bonspiel expands to 28 teams

Ladies Bonspiel 2024

Thanks to a great response, we've added an extra four teams to our ladies' bonspiel, Jan. 25-28, increasing it to 28 teams. This year, it's a rockin' 1950s theme. In addition to Marpole teams, we also have teams visiting us from Seattle and other Lower Mainland clubs.  A big thank you to the ladies' bonspiel committee for its organizing efforts. Intermediate curling clinics hosted at Marpole CC

Sweeping Clinic

The third and final intermediate clinic at Marpole CC on Saturday, Jan. 13 focused on sweeping. These folks are trying to get more weight on the broom head. The clinics were headed by Curl BC coaching course conductor Chris Summers, assisted by other coaches on each sheet. The first two clinics focused on delivery of the rock.

Learn-to-curl programs and novice league growing

We've had a steady increase in new curlers coming in the door this season, signing up for our learn-to-curl clinics and carrying on in our Sunday Novice League. Both programs run for five weeks at a time. They started up again after the Christmas break and more will be going again in February.

Successful food drive for the 2023 holiday season

With the generosity of Marpole Curling Club members, we collected 158 kilograms (350 pounds) of food in December. The donations went to the Marpole Community Food Hub.  Thanks to the TESAC League for leading this effort.

About MCC

Our facility was built in 1959 and still holds the same inviting atmosphere that it did back then. With six sheets of ice, a cafe, bar/lounge, games room and meeting room, we are able to accommodate events of all kinds. We are continuing to work on our club to ensure it is up-to-date, while still respecting its history and character.

The Marpole Curling Club acknowledges that it is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
