Saturday Queer Curling and Social Brunch/Lunch
Join us for our 2SLGBTQIA+ social curling and brunch/lunch at the... friendly home of curling in South Vancouver!
We offer a safe, supportive and inclusive space and we celebrate and welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.
Two great queer choices for your Saturday!
Queer Social Lunch/Brunch will take place between the two curling sessions, in our 60's style diner and our comfortable lounge upstairs. Exact hours and menu options will be updated closer to season start.
This is a great opportunity to build our community by meeting new people, and socialize with old friends! Come before your session 2 games and stay after your session 1 games.
Queer Curling consists of 2 sessions: Drop-in curling followed by Novice League & Learn-to-Curl (LTC) sessions (when offered).
- Drop-in starts at 11:10 AM and goes to around 1:10 PM (be ready to curl by 11:00 AM please).
- Novice/LTC starts at 1:30 PM and goes to around 3:30 PM (be ready to curl by 1:20 PM please)
Drop-in curling:
Cost $15 a person. Costs are discounted (regularly $20) thanks to sponsors like the Pacific Rim Curling League. All levels of curler experience are welcome! Pre-registration strongly recommended (see below). limited walk-in spaces will be available, first come first served.
No equipment is needed but we ask that you bring a clean pair of flat-soled athletic shoes to put on at the club and remember it can be cold in the ice shed so warm layered clothing and gloves/hats are also good to bring. We offer "first time" training to anyone who needs it for your first session. This is mandatory if you have never curled before; don't worry, we'll make you a curler in no time.
Novice League and Learn-to-Curl:
We will be offering several 5-week Novice League sessions as well as several 5-week Learn-to-Curl courses during our 2026-2027 season.
Novice league sessions will offer a little more consistency and structure for your curling experience and a roaming coach is always available to add value to your game while you have fun.
Learn-to-Curl sessions offer an excellent way to learn the basics of curling both form game play and rules, to sweeping, delivery, strategy and much more. These sessions have 1 coach per sheet for excellent training capability. This course will make prepare you to play any of our recreational curling leagues and are recommended for anyone who wishes to move beyond drop-in fun curling.
Signup for these programs will be through curling.io (links will arrive here soon). You are more than welcome to curling in the drop-in session and in the novice league if you wish! Note: Membership at the Marpole Curling Club and BC/Canada curling association fees (paid once per person per season) are required for these programs.
Don't want to curl? No worries, join us for brunch and/or during and after curling, the lounge is available with a grand viewing area of the ice sheets as well as a well stocked games room (pool, ping pong, shuffleboard, darts and more). You can support the curlers and stay warm and cozy in the lounge. And you are always welcome to join for lunch/brunch!
So come to lunch/brunch, or curling or experience both! Come alone or bring friends: Allies welcome! Curling (and our club) are both accessible so if you have an accessibility need, talk to us and we will do our best to accommodate you! Let's get you on the ice.
Let's continue to build and support our 2SLGBTQIA+ community in South Vancouver!
