Sunday Junior and Little Rockers Programs

Junior Program

Day & Time: Sundays, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Program Coordinator:  David  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Kids aged 10 to 18 are welcome to join our junior program. No experience is necessary. As well as learning the curling basics and playing games, participants have the opportunity to participate in bonspiels held at Marpole and other local clubs.

Marpole provides all needed curling equipment. Participants need to bring (not wear) clean runnings shoes and warm clothing in layers that is either stretchy or loose-fitting to comfortably enable getting into a curling delivery position.

Greater Vancouver Youth Curling League

We have teamed up with our friends at the Vancouver Curling Club and Royal City Curling Club for some friendly youth curling games between our clubs!

Sunday – 11:30 am to 1:30 pm (Marpole CC Games)

Saturday – 11 am to 1 pm (Vancouver CC Games)

Sunday – 8 am to 10 am (Royal City CC Games)

All teams will play an “home and away” schedule against other teams in your group, which means you will be going to Royal City or Vancouver Curling Clubs on occasion to play games there. And teams from Royal City and Vancouver will be coming to MCC to play games.

Games will consist of six ends or more (as time permits), with coaches being allowed on the ice to help with game play. Clubs will provide one coach per sheet, but teams are permitted to have their own coaches.

You can register as a team, or as an individual and we can place you on teams. Our league is ideal for newer or intermediate curlers with a minimum of one year of junior or high school program experience. If you have less experience, please ask our junior coordinator if you think you are ready to play. You do not have to currently be part of our junior program to participate, as long as you have some experience.

We will be running an open format, and we will try to match teams up based upon their skill level. So, whether you have some experience, a little bit of experience, or you haven’t played in an organized league before, there is a spot for you!

League Fees – $160/ person (4 person team) + GST for 8 games.

You can register for both halves of the season at the beginning of the year or just one half season.

Curlers registered in our junior program are welcome to join this league and will receive a 50% discount.

Little Rockers Program

Day & Time: Sundays, 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

Program Coordinator:  David Hignell This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The Little Rockers program is an introduction to curling for kids aged five to nine years old, using small rocks and a shorter length playing area. No curling equipment is required, as MCC supplies everything needed, except for a helmet. Participants are required to bring their own helmets.

Please have curlers wearing warm clothing in layers and bring (not wear) clean running shoes, as the rink area is about 5 degrees.

The next program runs from Nov. 12 to Dec. 17 with no curling on Nov. 26. Registration for programs starting on Jan. 7 and Feb. 18 will be posted here closer to the start dates.

About MCC

Our facility was built in 1959 and still holds the same inviting atmosphere that it did back then. With six sheets of ice, a cafe, bar/lounge, games room and meeting room, we are able to accommodate events of all kinds. We are continuing to work on our club to ensure it is up-to-date, while still respecting its history and character.

The Marpole Curling Club acknowledges that it is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
