Simply Seniors Bonspiel was the first of the season

The 16th Marpole Simply Seniors Bonspiel, held on September 22 and 23, was a big success. The bonspiel featured 12 teams. Organizers pass along a big thank you to the Marpole staff and volunteers for their extra effort to make the event so special and a great start to the season. And everyone loved the baking!

Oktoberfest Doubles Bonspiel to go Oct. 21

There is still room for a couple more teams to register for the Oktoberfest Fun Open Doubles Spiel on Saturday, Oct. 21. Each team is guaranteed three games plus a traditional Bavarian dinner and mug of beer.  One year's curling experience is required to play. A brief explanation of doubles rules and format will happen before the first game on Saturday.

 

Registration now open for the Driftwood Brewery Sportsman's Bonspiel

You can now register for the annual men's bonspiel, Nov. 24-26. The Driftwood Brewery Sportsman's Bonspiel is a fun-filled weekend with competitive men’s curling, refreshing Driftwood beer, a turkey shoot on Saturday, 50/50 draws and our famous steak barbeque. Registration is limited to 24 teams.

 

Expanded line of curling equipment now for sale

With the Vancouver Curling Club operating the Marpole Curling Club this season, we are now able to offer more curling equipment from the VCC pro shop inventory. In particular, we are offering a range of Goldline and Asham shoes plus Hardline brooms. If we are out of stock of something at Marpole, we can bring it to you from the Vancouver CC store, usually by the next day. Marpole CC members now receive a 10 percent discount at both the MCC and VCC shop locations.

Try the triples curling game on Sunday, Nov. 5

Try out triples curling as developed by Curling Canada (https://www.curling.ca/files/2020/06/Triples-Curling-Canada-EN.pdf). A coach will be on hand to introduce the game and provide help with rules. The event runs 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 5 and cost is $20 per curler. Click here for registration.

The game features teams of three, six rocks per team, three sets of two ends each, and players rotating positions after each set. If you enjoy the try triples event, you can sign up for a four-week program on Sundays at 3:00 pm from Nov. 12 to Dec. 10 with no curling on Nov. 26. This program will include a coach on hand to help with rules and also help new curlers with deliveries, etc.

About MCC

Our facility was built in 1959 and still holds the same inviting atmosphere that it did back then. With six sheets of ice, a cafe, bar/lounge, games room and meeting room, we are able to accommodate events of all kinds. We are continuing to work on our club to ensure it is up-to-date, while still respecting its history and character.
